Amaechi slams Jonathan over Tambuwal, bad leadership

Amaechi slams Jonathan over Tambuwal, bad leadership

**************************************************************************************************************************
Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State has described the actions of the Federal Government and the Nigerian Police in trying to forcefully remove House Speaker Aminu Tambuwal from office as “lawless”.
Governor Amaechi made the declaration yesterday at the Ake Arts and Book Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State while on a panel to discuss “Poisonous Gas: The Crude Politics of Oil in Africa.”
The governor said the Federal Government was blatantly disregarding court orders in order to pursue its agenda of ousting the Speaker for defecting to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), while demanding people to check the excesses of the government.
“A lawless government that can’t be checked by the state institutions should be checked by the people,” the governor said, urging the youths to be more forceful in demanding justice and answers to pressing national questions.
“Young people criticize me for drinking Red Bull but they won’t ask the government where all the oil money is going to,” he said in reference to a photo that has  emerged showing him drinking the energy drink. Amaechi said he took the drink to revive himself in order to continue the struggle, noting that he has now become known in some circles as “The Activist Governor”.
He asked the youths to be more proactive about challenging the government to serve them better, saying: “I can’t be leading protests when the young people are there doing nothing. I did my protest when I was an undergraduate under the Buhari regime. Imagine how tough things were then. That was when I protested.”

UNGUARDED UTTERANCES!
Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State said the following recently: "If the PDP rigs the election in 2015, we will not go to Court; we will make the country ungovernable. We will form a parallel government and there will be anarchy." Then another reckless politician, Governor Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State, said opposition members should be crushed, destroyed and killed like "kankyaso" (cockroaches)! Although Shema's video in which he made the inciting statement has gone viral on the social media and the traditional media, the man told the BBC he was misunderstood instead of acknowledging the error and apologising. APC National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, instead of apologising on behalf of the Rivers Governor, he was unblushingly defending or justifying Rotimi Amaechi's recklessness. An American Congressman from Minnesota Mr. Eugene McCarthy said a politicians should not say anything unwise that might be remembered against him in the future. Rabble rousing and demagoguery is not the finest quality of good politicians. Playing up people's sentiments and prejudices for personal advantage is irresponsible and indefensible political behaviour. And this behaviour, whether by PDP or APC leaders, should be condemned.
