A gun battle ensued between militants and the Joint Task Force (JTF) at house in Kano which later turned up the body of a German engineer kidnapped four months ago in Kano state. The handcuffed body of Edgar Fritz Raupach was recovered after the battle and reports from the scene describe him as gruesomely murdered. Five Boko Haram operatives were killed by the JTF, according to a release by the security force.
The JTF claims it snooped upon a Boko Haram senior commanders meeting a building close to the Bayero Unniversity in Kano, four militants were reportedly killed in the raid.
