According to a statement by the US consulate in Nigeria, a foreigner has been kidnapped in Lagos. The US consulate said this in an alert it made to American citizens in the city.
However, the identity and nationality of the kidnapped foreigner was not given.
“The US Consulate General in Lagos received a report that an expatriate was kidnapped on Victoria Island on Saturday, March 23 at approximately 11 pm. Local Nigerian law enforcement confirmed the incident,” said the message from the spokeswoman of the consulate.
The kidnapping and the announcement are significant, as cases of kidnap of foreigners are hardly reported in Lagos
