Nigeria On The Brink – By Richard Grenell

— With the polls closed in Israel, international election observers now turn their attention to the Nigerian elections on March 28. The choice for the leader of Africa’s most populous country pits Goodluck Jonathan from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) against Mohammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The decision by the roughly 73 million registered Nigerian voters could have a profound impact on the future of Africa.
But Western foreign policy observers pre-occupied with the rise of ISIS in the Middle East should wake up to the reality unfolding in Nigeria. Opposition candidate General Buhari wants Sharia law throughout Nigeria. In fact, he wants it everywhere.
“I will continue to show openly and inside me the total commitment to the Sharia movement that is sweeping all over Nigeria,” Mr. Buhari said. “God willing, we will not stop the agitation for the total implementation of the Sharia in the country.”
Agitation? Is this an indication that Mr. Buhari supports violence because the end goal of the terrorist attacks throughout Nigeria and Africa is an Islamic state? It is a legitimate question that should be asked by leaders of the Obama administration.
Boko Haram has pledged its allegiance and support to ISIS. The Northern Nigerian based Islamic terrorist group wants Sharia law throughout Nigeria and beyond. They are also actively terrorizing Chad, Niger and Cameroon with their goal of an Islamic state.
Mr. Buhari has also spoken sympathetically about members of the terrorist group Boko Haram, has cautioned against a rush to judgement on its members and has personally been selected by the terrorist group to lead its negotiations with the Government of Nigeria. Mr. Buhari’s election as Nigeria’s head of state would be a disaster for Africa. It would also signal trouble for the West’s fight against ISIS and terrorism throughout the Middle East.
Islamic radicals have Africa on their target list and young Nigerians are reported to be interested in ISIS’ messages. Nigeria is at a tipping point. Tunisia, where the Arab Spring uprisings began, saw a deadly Islamic terrorist attack at a popular museum killing 23 people this week. ISIS attacked a hospital in Libya within the last few days and Boko Haram killed 54 people with 4 suicide bombers in Nigeria last week. The West, and specifically the Obama Administration, needs to wake up to the growing problem.
The French government has been fighting ISIS in Africa for the past two years, starting in Mali but with little help from the Obama Administration. As terrorism grows in yet another region of the globe, American and Western officials should realize they are not stopping the advancements of Islamic radicals. Al-Qaida is not dead and ISIS is not a JV team.
The recent moves by the White House against Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu signal a willingness by President Obama and his team to intervene in foreign elections. The sitting President Goodluck Jonathan has committed to defeating Boko Haram and overseeing a free and fair election. The Nigerian economy has been growing faster than South Africa’s. Imagine what Nigeria could do for Africa if it was also free of Boko Haram’s violence. The Obama Administration should be doing more to ensure Africa’s most populous country doesn’t slip away.

'THIS ‘’CORRUPTION’’ THAT BUHARI IS SHOUTING - Hmmm

The English Language definition of CORRUPTION aptly describes Buhari’s Conduct both in the past as one who robbed Nigerians of our electoral decisions by overthrowing a democratically elected government, engaged in nepotism and cronyism when he served in the 4th most corrupt regime in the world as at then, and in the present via dishonesty and tacit and open support for a group of moronic murderers who call themselves Boko Haram.

In fact, Buhari’s inability to tender evidences of the minimum educational requirement to contest for the number one seat -WASCE RESULT – makes him INELIGIBLE to seek for any elective position under the re-jigged ELECTORAL ACT of 2011 just like non-possession of a PVC makes a voter ineligible to cast ballots.

If you want to vote for one who cheated Nigerians from the age of 19, submitting a RECOMMENDATION LETTER promising to pass English, Maths and three other subjects, instead of the ACTUAL WASCE RESULT, rising thru the ranks via accelerated promotions, then you need to TAKE YOUR WARDS OFF SCHOOL, PREVENT THEM FROM WRITING AND PASSING SSCE, DESTROY YOUR OWN WASCE RESULT and swear oaths to tell employers cock-and-bull stories about your WASCE result. Simple!

‘’Nigeria is presently ranked 44th most corrupt country in the world…
Buhari CAN NEVER fight corruption like President Jonathan!…
REASONS:
* He's surrounded by people who were impeached on corruption grounds like Patricia Ette, Murtala Nyarko, etc.
* He's surrounded by past leaders who have pending corruption cases hanging on their necks eg. APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, of Lagos state, Bukola Saraki, of Kwara state, etc.
* He's also surrounded by highly corrupt incumbents, eg. Rotimi Ameachi of Rivers state, Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos state, etc.
* Now Pa "Kwaraption"Buhari has changed from "I will punish corrupt leaders" to "I will grant amnesty to corrupt leaders"

UNFORGETTABLE FACT:

Brigadier Tunde Idiagbon was the face of incorruptibility in 1984...not Buhari....

If Idiagbon were alive today, he wouldn't have bandwagonned with ANY POLITICIAN to seek for any elective post after truncating democracy via illegal and unconstitutional means..

BUHARI IS LUCKY TO BE ALIVE FOR THE COUP...

He killed coup plotters alleged to be planning to overthrow his stone-age govt.

'GIRL, 9, DONATES POCKET MONEY TO BUHARI
A 9-year-old pupil of Greensprings School, Lekki campus, Nicole Benson, has officially donated her pocket money to the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari campaign team.
Benson announced the donation of N5785 (which her mother increased to N10,000 to make it a round figure) during the Town Hall meeting with Nigerian women groups on Thursday at Harbour Point, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.
She also read the letter she wrote pledging the donation a month ago to APC Presidential campaign team, to the admiration of the audience.
The money was received by the Director-General of the Fund Raising Committee and Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, who thanked the young child with a handshake to the applause of the audience.
Her letter read:
Dear APC and Governor Fashola,
My name is Nicole Benson. I am 9 years old. The name of my school is Greensprings School Lekki campus and I am in year 4. I want to be a doctor when I grow up so that I can take care of people who are sick and dying because they take care of me when I am sick.
Governor Fashola and APC, I was listening to the radio on my way to school today and I heard that we can send money to you to help you to win the election. My mummy said that I can donate from N100 so that we can help APC to raise the money to win the election and remove President Goodluck Jonathan so that Mr Buhari and Professor Osinbajo can be the new president and assistant president and be able to help Nigeria to fight the Boko Haram people who are killing innocent children and also bring back the Chibok girls so that their mummies and daddies can be happy.
Governor Fashola and APC, please don’t you think that N100 is too small. I have the new N100 notes but I am sorry I will not be able to give it to you because I only have one and I want to keep it in my wallet. But I have N5785 that I saved from my lunch money and pocket money and toothfairy money. I know it’s my mummy giving the toothfairy the money to give me because I found my tooth in her wallet last year and I want to give you all my money that I saved so that you can win in February. I have N5785 and also N8 but the N8 is in coins and it’s only in Shoprite that they gave me so I want to go and spend it there. I wanted to buy my inhaler disk but my daddy has bought another new one for me. I have given my mummy the money and she put it on her card to pay it on your website and she paid it now. I wish I could get more money for you but that will be next week when I get more lunch money from my daddy and toothfairy can’t give me any more money because all my teeth have all grown back. I can still save more money for you and give you in February.
Please help me give some of the money to Mr Ambode too so that he can win Mr Jimmy Agbaje. I like Mr Ambode very much.
I wish you goodluck not Goodluck Jonathan but best of luck and please you can call my mummy’s number if you need me to send the money I want to save for you. But you will have to give me some time to save it.
Please say hello to Mr Ambode Mr Buhari and Professor Osinbajo for me.

According to Enitan Benson, Nicole’s mummy, “she insisted on typing the above mail herself so I have decided not to make any corrections.
“I agreed with her to help round her contribution to N10,000. I tried sending the money on the http://www.apcgmbpyo.org/ site but keep getting an error message. I’ll try again later and if it still doesn’t go through, I’ll go to the bank tomorrow (today).
“Please, if there’s an alternative payment method I would like to know as she keeps checking every other minute to see if her donation has been sent.
“My family and I are proud APC members! #change. Thank you.”

Don't Be Afraid Of Going To Jail..Mrs Buhari Tells Patience Jonathan

AISHAT Buhari, wife of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has told President Goodluck Jonathan’s wife, Patience, not to have the fear of going to jail if Buhari emerged winner in the forthcoming March 28 presidential poll.
The APC presidential candidate’s wife, who said the country had long suffered bad governance, said her husband would not have time to witchhunt anybody.
Aishat, who spoke on Thursday in Edo, the Benin State capital, where she interacted with women in the state, was reacting to statements credited to Patience that Buhari would jail women if elected as President.
“For those that are campaigning, saying that he (Buhari) is coming to jail Nigerians, I don’t know what their fear is.
“But they shouldn’t be afraid because we are all yearning for change.
“The insecurity in the country, the very poor healthcare system, lack of education and other basic necessities that people are lacking, I believe Nigerians need somebody like General Muhammadu Buhari now.
“Already, they have painted him black, using religion.
“I’m happy today that Nigerians realise that they use religion as a cover to loot Nigeria,” Aishat said.
She added, “In each zone of the country, we have peculiar problems; our problems differ. For me, in this zone, girl-child trafficking should be considered (as) one of our problems, though I know that there is unemployment. Unemployment is a major factor that contributes to brain-drain and also the girl-child trafficking.
“Buhari is a leader. He was a leader; he led Nigeria some decades ago and he is coming back now to sanitise the system.”
While urging women to uphold and not sell their Permanent Voter Cards but to use them to vote for a new Nigeria, she however assured the people that her husband’s administration would uphold the development of the girl-child, if elected.
“I am here today to say that when my husband is elected into the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, all these are going to be history. The insecurity, girl-child trafficking, suffering of the widows in the South-East will; all of them will come to an end.”
There must be a cultural design to accommodate the widows; a design that will make the girl-child to be comfortable wherever she is in this country.
“The collection of PVCs is also important. Don’t ever sell it; it is like selling your future again. When you sell it for N5, 000, you won’t see N5, 000 till after four years, which is too bad for you. Get your PVC, vote for the APC. Vote for freedom, good education, good healthcare, good road and all the basic necessities should be given to you. Thank you, so much for waiting in the sun for hours to see me; I love you all,” Mrs. Buhari said.
Also speaking, Governor Oshiomhole stressed that the party desired to deliver quality development and achieve success in the various sectors of the country, especially in the area education and job creation, as it had done in the state. He noted that the party was known for “workable projects” rather than “symbolic projects

US Vice President Joe Biden Speaks On Phone With Goodluck ,Buhari Over 2015 Election:

Specifically, he noted the concern of the US government about the violence during some recent election-related events in Nigeria and reiterated the need for both candidates to make clear that such violence had no place in democratic elections.
This was confirmed by the US Embassy in Nigeria via an email.

VICE President of the United States, Joe Biden, on Wednesday, spoke on phone with President Goodluck Jonathan and the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari over the March 28 election.

Specifically, he noted the concern of the US government about the violence during some recent election-related events in Nigeria and reiterated the need for both candidates to make clear that such violence had no place in democratic elections.
This was confirmed by the US Embassy in Nigeria via an email.

According to the statement sent to newsmen, the vice president commended President Jonathan and Major-General Buhari for signing the Abuja accord in mid-January, saying it was a show of their commitment to non-violence throughout the election process.
He further expressed the US support for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and its work to deliver free, fair, and credible elections, through its essential efforts to distribute permanent voter cards and help ensure that electronic voter card readers are in place and fully operational.
Biden also noted his concern about the violence during some recent election-related events and reiterated the need for both candidates to make clear that such violence had no place in democratic elections.
He affirmed that the United States would continue to stand with the Nigerian people in support of credible and peaceful elections, and would also continue to stand with the Nigerian people whatever the outcome.

Man Rapes 10 Years Old Housemaid To Death In Abia State

A last daughter, Anurika, to live with the family of a senior civil servant in the Abia State Ministry of Petroleum and Solid Mineral Resources.
Barely two months after the 10-year-old girl came and settled in her new home at World Bank Housing Estate, Umuahia, the capital city, she was allegedly raped to death by the head of the family, Mr. Chinedu Onuoha, a director in the ministry.
Ngwakwe, a father of six, who works at the state Ministry of Finance as a security guard, said that he was shocked when his phone rang late in the evening of the fateful day of January 10, 2015, and Mrs. Precious Onuoha asked him to rush down to the hospital “and see what is happening to Anurika”.
“There was blood gushing out of her ears, mouth, private part and wounds on her body,” said Ngwakwe when describing the state in which he found his daughter at the hospital, adding that she was already lifeless.
The sorrowful man said that though everything pointed to the fact that his daughter was raped to death, neither the hospital authorities nor the police have told him exactly what led to the death of his daughter.
“I want to know what killed my child. They have not told me,” Ngwakwe lamented.
According to him, Onuoha has laboured in vain to explain away the cause of the girl’s death. He said that the senior civil servant told him that the girl had entered the car and locked herself in and in the process of trying to come out of the car got herself injured and was taken to the hospital where she died.
“He told me that I should forget it, that what happen don happen,” Ngwakwe said, adding that Onuoha even went to his car and disgustingly brought out a bottle of hot drink “which he offered me and asked me to drink and cool my mind. Those who know the suspect described him as a polygamist and a heavy smoker and drinker.”
Narrating the circumstances that led to his daughter's journey to Umuahia and eventually to her demise, Ngwakwe said that Mrs. Onuoha, who also works in the Ministry of Finance, had been pestering him to get a housemaid for her.
According to him, it was on January 10, 2010 that he took Mrs. Onuoha and her husband to his village, Owo Ohafor in Obingwa Local Government Area, to pick the maid he had arranged for them.
However as fate would have it, Ngwakwe had taken the couple to his country home to greet his family before proceeding to the family where the maid was waiting for them.
It was then that Anurika rushed out to greet her father and Mr. and Mrs. Onuoha immediately liked the innocent girl and asked her father to forget the maid he had in mind and instead allow them to take his daughter.
The prospect of life in the city excited the little girl and she readily agreed to leave her family and eventually went to Umuahia with the Onuohas. It was her final good bye to her mother and siblings.
The Abia State Police Command is now investigating how Anurika came to die in gruesome circumstances allegedly in the hands of her master. The command's Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Geoffrey Ogbonna, who confirmed the incident, said that the suspect had been arrested and taken into custody while investigations had commenced to unravel the cause of the girl’s death.
The state government yesterday reacted to the incident by announcing the removal of the suspect from the board of ASOPADEC and placed him on interdiction since he is a civil servant, pending the final determination of his culpability in the rape and murder incident.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Anthony Agbazuere, told journalists that the government decided to follow due process in dealing with the issue, adding that since the suspect is a civil servant he has to be interdicted first and later dismissed if his guilt is finally established.
He also said the Civil Service Commission had been directed to take further appropriate measures deemed necessary to punish the suspect in line with civil service rules.
“We’re grounded in law and we have to follow due process,” the information commissioner said, adding that every individual has a personal responsibility for their action and whoever commits any crime should be ready to face the law.
Meanwhile, the state chapter of International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) has waded into the death of the minor with a view to ensuring that justice is done.
Assistant Secretary of Abia FIDA, Florence Egwuonwu, told journalists that FIDA decided to wade into the matter because the victim involved was a minor and her rights had been violated, adding that they would not only ensure that an autopsy is carried out, but also follow the case in court

Meet The Latest Chick-Fil-A Owner/Operator: MS Adaobi Gwacham

adaobi

Published on Thursday, 05 March 2015 18:00Written by Zon D’Amour, Contributing Writer

Adaobi Gwacham is the newest Owner/Operator of Chick-Fil-A in Pasadena, CA. Still in her twenties,
the Nigerian born entrepreneur gives insight on the highly competitive and selective process and her journey from collegiate team member to franchisee.
Annually, an estimated 30,000 people express interest in opening a Chick-Fil-A restaurant. Less than one hundred people are selected to become franchisees of the immensely popular eatery. Adaobi Gwacham is one of the latest proud owners of a recently built Chick Fil-A restaurant on East Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena, CA; centrally located across from Pasadena City College.  Gwacham began her career with Chick-Fil-A as a team member when she was eighteen and a student at California Baptist University. She soon received the opportunity to travel with the corporate office to other locations and train new team members. That task sparked Gwacham’s interest in growing with the company and learning the steps to become a franchisee.
Eleven years later Gwacham stands out front of her business welcoming guests to experience the actualization of her dream. Gwacham’s mother is a nursing assistant and longed for her eldest of five to become a nurse. During Gwacham’s junior year, she decided she wasn’t passionate about pursuing a career in the medical field. “I was doing my clinicals and I realized nursing wasn’t for me. I wanted to be able to provide instant help for the patients but talking to the doctors and learning certain patients didn’t have long to live or that they’d been in the hospital for an extended period of time; I didn’t see myself being in that environment for the rest of my career.” She continues, “I was so scared when I told my mom, ‘I don’t want to be a nurse, I want to sell chicken for the rest of my life!’ (laughs). At first, she didn’t understand but now she does. She says ‘as long as it makes you happy, then I’m happy.”
Many young adults take on part-time fast food jobs while in school pursuing other careers. When asked what was it about Chick-Fil-A that resonated with her for more than a part-time position Gwacham says, “The people that I’ve been able to meet along my eleven years truly care about you and want to see you succeed. I looked at being an owner/operator as an opportunity to make an impact and be an influence on peoples lives.” She adds, “The food is great but I am in it for the people I get to serve and interact with on a daily basis.”
The process to open her restaurant began in 2010 and Gwacham was told the opportunity to be in Pasadena wasn’t available. She recounts, “There’s a lot of litigation and regulations for fast food restaurants coming into the city. Even though I was working for the corporate office in a different capacity I had to go through the extensive process just like everyone else.”
The selection process included phone interviews, one on one interviews and background checks. “[Chick Fil-A] wants to make sure everyone they go into business with has the character, the chemistry and competence that they’re looking for. Thankfully I was able to wow them and I was offered the opportunity to open this location. I am truly blessed.” On what kept her patient and hopeful during the application process, Gwacham comments, “My mom reminded me that GOD has a plan for me. I just needed to stay humble and prayerful. My faith helped me to endure the long process; I was very at peace about it. Over the course of two years, I prayed about it and trust that if this was what I’m truly supposed to do, it would happen.”
With Gwacham’s youthful and vivacious appearance, one would assume she was one of the collegiate team members. She is extremely hands on with her restaurant; greeting customers, taking orders and maintaining the cleanliness of the dining area. She is a phenomenal role model for her team members who respect her immensely. On her experience with Chick-Fil-A and with Gwacham as her boss, manager Dorcas Astacio comments, “She’s amazing. Adaobi treats you with dignity and respect everyday. For her, it’s not solely about running a business and making money, she values you as a person. She’s always happy. I like to be around her. Working for her has been an unbelievable experience.
Gwacham gives insight on some of her responsibilities as an owner/operator. “I have eighty-nine people on staff. I interviewed, hired and trained every person. I have the passion to be here for my team. I have such a high degree of responsibility, I want to make sure things are done right. I want to make sure that my team knows my expectations.”
Outside of Chick-Fil-A, Gwacham has several upcoming speaking engagements in the community including the African American Conference for high school students at Pasadena City College and with the Step Ahead Leadership program also for high school students where she will share her story and words of encouragement. “You have the option to make something out of your life, you just have to work at it. You have to put in the time and the effort and greatness will happen.”
One of Gwacham’s ultimate career goals includes being the first woman multi-unit operator (franchisee that owns more than one restaurant) in the state of California. Out of the nearly 1,800 Chick-Fil-A locations, less than ten percent of the owners are African American women. For those interested in pursuing corporate opportunities with the company Gwacham says “I don’t look at the numbers as a disadvantage by any means, if you believe you have what it takes to run a business why not go for it? Do what you need to do to be able to achieve those goals.”
In July 2014, The Sentinel highlighted Gwacham’s colleague Ashley Derby who is another African American woman franchisee. She is the owner/operator of the USC In-Line location. Gwacham says, “Ashley and I are here because of the hard work that we’ve put in. It’s about your diligence and your ability to make sacrifices. Ashley moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles to be a franchisee. I move from L.A. to Atlanta to work in the corporate office for five years. That was a sacrifice that I made in order to reach my ultimate goals.”

Tunisian Toyboy dumps disabled 64-yr old wife shortly after he arrived in UK

A disabled 64-year-old who fell for her Tunisian toyboy online, before marrying him and securing a visa for him to live in the UK, has described how she was dumped shortly after he arrived.
Patricia, who suffers from crippling osteoarthritis and has to use a mobility scooter, flew out to marry 26-year-old Mondher, from Tunisia, after he contacted her on a dating site.
"When he first contacted me he was all lovey-dovey and he started telling me he loved me when we had been talking for three weeks and asking me to go there for a holiday,"
There was a 33 year age gap between them, but Mondher reportedly convinced her it would work.
"I thought age was just a number and he kept drilling that into my head,"As long as we love each other, that's all that matters. He made me feel good because he was younger than me."I had been there for five days when he said 'let's get married, let's just do it!'"I thought 'I love the guy, go for it'.

"He was telling me he was going to treat me like a princess, we could buy a car and he would take me out where I wanted to go."
They married in 2012, but Patricia paid for the whole ceremony, Patricia returned to the UK alone, and managed to secure Mondher a visitor's visa eight months later - but when he flew over, their happy life was gone completely.
She describes how having him at home with her was a "nightmare", filled with constant arguments, because he barely communicated with her.

‘Some People Look Like Animals’ - Raven Symoné defends TV Host who said Michelle Obama looks like an ape

Actress Raven-Symone attends the Outfest 2015 Fusion Gala screening and Q&A of "Empire" at American Cinematheque's Egyptian Theatre on March 13, 2015 in Hollywood, Calif.
Just last week, Univision host Rodner Figueroa was fired for comparing Michelle Obama’s appearance to that of an ape from ‘Planet of the Apes.’

The incident became a topic of discussion on the last episode of The View while Raven-Symone was co-hosting.

Rosie Perez said Rodner Figueroa’s comments are a reflection of part of the Latin community that stems from Latinos’ reluctance to recognize that “African blood” is embedded within their ancestry.
“There is a secret in the Latin community, specifically the Caribbean, South American, Central American Latin community. They are very racist,” Perez said. “They never want to be in the same group as black people. And it’s very, very sad. And he did say Michelle Obama looked like a cast member of the ‘Planet of the Apes.’”
Raven-Symoné questioned whether Figueroa’s intent was “racist-like” since he admitted to voting for President Barack Obama in both elections. Rosie Perez insisted that the comments were completely racist.
“But was he saying it ‘racist-like?’” Symoné interjected. “Because [Figueroa] did say he voted for [Michelle] later and I don’t think he was saying it racist.”

“Oh please!” Perez fired back. “That’s like saying, ‘I’m not a racist, but I have black friends.”

Rosie continued:
“I am the Latin person here on this table and I would like to tell you that it was racist, period,” she declared. “And the thing is this is a problem in the Latin community that we do not talk about. That we do not address. And it is real and it was revealed by this man’s statement. And you do not disrespect the first lady of our country.”
Raven interjected again:
“I don’t think he was saying it racist,”
“Not Michelle Obama. Michelle, don’t fire me from this right now, but some people do look like animals,” she added.
“Is that rude? I look like a bird… “Some people look like animals. I look like a bird. So can I be mad if somebody calls me a Toucan Sam?”

Eeek. We love Raven, but she has this bad habit of saying the wrong things at the wrong time.

Two Sisters Sentenced To Jail For Raping A Man

A pair of cruel sisters have been jailed after they subjected a man described as a “vulnerable adult” to a degrading sexual assault and sent photos of the abuse to friends on a BlackBerry Messenger.

Twisted Yasmine, 19, and Whitney Notice, 20, lured the man back to their flat after meeting him over social media. After plying the 22-year-old victim with cider, they threatened him with a fake handgun, forced him to strip and demanded he perform sex acts.

Hmmmm do you think any Naija man would report, that he has been raped by two sisters?........continue reading

Specialists from the Public Protection Unit were able to track the images to Yasmine’s phone.

Birmingham Crown Court heard how the pair sexually humiliated him purely for their own wicked amusement.
Yasmine was sentenced to seven years and two months behind bars, while Whitney was jailed for five years and four months.

Detective Constable Emma Fennon said: “They targeted the man with the express intention of humiliating him for their own pleasure. They even recorded the abuse and boasted about their actions to friends.

“In the video the man, who is a vulnerable adult, can be seen cowering, fearing for his life, whilst the girls are heard laughing in the background.

“We believe this may not have been the first time they have carried out such abuse as other images discovered on their phones suggest there could be more victims.

“If anyone has suffered such abuse they should report it to police. The matter will be dealt with sensitively by officers specially trained to support victims.”

Both sisters admitted assault, false imprisonment, and causing a person to engage in sexual activity on February 3 this year.

Whitney also pleaded guilty to possessing an imitation firearm.

The sisters were ordered to register as sex offenders for life.

Throwing people in jail will not curb corruption, Jonathan is right – Mike Ejiofor

Barr. Mike Ejiofor
A former Director of the State Security Service, SSS, Mike Ejiofor, has stated that President Goodluck Jonathan’s approach to tackling corruption is laudable.
He explained that what Nigeria needs is strong institutions rather than strong individuals and that President Jonathan was working relentlessly to build strong institutions.
Ejiofor gave his stance during an exclusive interview with Post Nigeria in Abuja on Tuesday.
“I very much subscribe to the view of Mr. President. If we recall, President Obama once said “We should build strong institutions instead of strong individuals,
“What we used to have in this country were strong individuals with weak institutions and why, because of the military government. This continued even under Obasanjo’s administration because he was a military man, which President Jonathan is not; he is not a military man even though he is the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, he is a pure democrat guided by the rule of law,
“What the Government should do is to build strong institutions” he said.
Ejiofor, who is also the CEO of Apex Safety & Security Consultants Ltd, pointed out that throwing everybody in jail for various minor offences will not stop others from committing the same crime, citing an example of when the military used to sentence armed robbers to firing squads.
“You cannot throw everybody in prison, because the more we jail people, the more people will commit the same offence,
“Remember that during the military regime, firing squads were introduced as a measure to curb armed robbery but did it stop armed robbery,” he stated.
The former Director of SSS explained that people were not appreciative of Jonathan’s efforts at tackling corruption because he was not following one of his predecessor misguided strategy of unleashing anti-graft agencies on political opponents.
“EFCC for instance was established to fight corruption but deviated from its established function when the former President (Olusegun Obasanjo) started using it against his opponents; since Jonathan came in it has not been so,” he said.
Ejiofor admitted that Nigeria’s greatest challenge under Jonathan has been insecurity, not corruption, but reiterated that the current administration was gradually fighting corruption by building strong institutions to tackle corruption.
“The greatest challenge government is facing from the opposition is security. This government is focused on insecurity but it’s gradually fighting corruption by building institutions to reduce corruption,
“People tend to have their views, but I believe for the stability of this country President Jonathan should be given another opportunity to complete his term.”
He highlighted some achievements of the Government in the efforts to tackle corruption.
“Look at the issue of fertilizer, previously we had middlemen who were making money from the supply, but now we have direct supplies to end users and by so doing, the President has cut off that chain of corruption,
“Also, thousands of ghost workers have been flushed out,
“The most important thing is that the Government should block all loopholes through which people can steal money,
“The ones that have infringed the law and have been found guilty of doing so should be persecuted, and I think that is what the Government is doing,” he said.
