Davido's Picture

When popular billionaire businessman, Deji Adeleke’s son, David told his father a few years ago that he wanted to pursue a career in music, he was not in support of it.
Why would David who had the whole world at his feet, box himself into music?,”  wondered Deji Adeleke. Left to Adeleke, his son ought to have pursued academics aiming to be an Engineer, Accountant, Doctor or Lawyer. Thank God he changed his mind!

Deji Adeleke had every reason to think that way, because he is stupendously rich. He sits atop a business empire that is into Banking, Steel, Transportation, Power and Energy sectors. Deji Adeleke is the chairman of Keplo-Pacific Energy Consortium that acquired the Olorunsogo Plant in Ogun State. He is the founder and Pro-Chancellor of the Adeleke University, Ede, Osun State. He is one of the popular Adeleke brothers from Osun State. His brother is Senator (Alhaji) Isiaka Adeleke, former Osun Governor. So, David is from very rich background.
To get him to possibly change his mind, Deji Adeleke began to cajole him on the need to pursue other careers. But much as he tried to  convince him out of it, David refused to budge. Unknown to his father, the younger Adeleke had gone far deep into music. And it was a big battle as David insisted that he would only pursue a music career and nothing else. Eventually, his father soft-pedalled but with one proviso. He would only allow David pursue his music career while at the same time go to school. Today, the 19-year-old has not only become a music star, he is also doing his father’s wish. Davido is currently studying Business Administration at the Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, Ogun State.
And today, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido, is known for his hit songs; “Back When” and “Dami Duro”. He is one of the new faces on the music scene whose accomplishments have already generated buzz among those in the know. Davido performed at nearly every major show last year, which include Koko Concert both in London and in Nigeria, Music meets Runway, P-Square Invasion Concert etc.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia (U.S.A), but brought up in Lagos, Nigeria, Davido has been producing music since the tender age of 13.  But how did he start?
After a few self-taught lessons in various studios, he began to explore the depths of music while in high-school as a member of a minor music group. Keeping his eyes firmly on the ball, Davido began lending his talents to many up and coming artists based in Nigeria including Dammy Krane, NPZ and more, truly defining the Afropop and Afrobeat sounds.
Being more than just a presence on a beat, the young man has executed the skills that have enabled collaborations with Nigerian household names like Naeto C and Lynx. A multi-talented singer, songwriter and producer (signed to co-owned HKN records). David is indeed ready to become the youngest music sensation around.
Within the short period Davido has been in the scene, he has built relationships with numerous artistes and has an overwhelming amount of fan base. Featuring in and producing some, Davido has already worked in collaboration with some of Nigeria’s top artists including Shank, Tiwa Savage, Sauce Kid, Mo’Cheddah and popular UK artiste, Dotstar and he’s set to work with more.
With no better way to show what the young artiste is made of, a documentary based on his lifestyle, shows, studio sessions, commitment and dedication to the ‘game’ has been put in place. Davido’s management and PR team in collaboration with Gbaymee Phillips Productions gave rise to the documentary, ‘’Who Is Davido?’’. Artistes in the documentary include Shank, Naeto C, D’Prince, Wizkid, DJ Neptune and many more. Davido didn’t only convince his fans through his studio session that he is indeed a good producer of his own music (in relation to his debut single, Back When) but also to other artistes, as seen with Skales without any argument, his talents supersede that of many.
The documentary was set in place, not only to increase his fan base, but also to give those who constantly wondered what the artiste/producer DAVIDO was about, an insight to his ‘hustle’ as an artiste.
