Accident Victim Disappears As N4m Recovered From his Car

An accident victim whose N4 million was recovered from the scene of the crash by Road Safety officials, has disappeared from the hospital where he was receiving treatment.

Official sources told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the accident victim disappeared shortly after his admission at the Badagry General Hospital and his whereabouts had remained unknown.

Mr Joseph Jaiyeoba, spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, told NAN that the accident victim was nowhere to be found when the police checked at the hospital on Tuesday.

Jaiyeoba told NAN that the police received N4,091,400 recovered from the scene by officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), adding that the victim later claimed that the total amount in his possession at the time of the crash was N6.5 million.

The police spokesman said that part of the money was possibly stolen by hoodlums before the FRSC officials rescued the victim from the accident scene.

He said that the police was investigating the source of the cash find because of the manner in which the currency was wrapped.

Jaiyeoba added that the cash was still in police custody, while the vehicle was kept with the FRSC, pending further investigation into the matter.
