EVIDENCE IN COURT OF THE HOT SLAP !!!!
An Ogun State High Court on wednesday gave the Founder and General Overseer of the Living Faith Church also known as Winners Chapel, five days to file his defence to a suit brought against him before the Court by a Lagos-based Lawyer Mr. Robert Igbinedion Esq on behalf of a young lady he allegedly assaulted during a deliverance
service in his Church last year.
The suit seek to among others, compel Bishop Oyedepo to pay the sum of N2billion as 'general and exemplary' damages and a pubic apology from the Bishop, personally signed by him and to be published on at least two widely read National Dailies and one International Television station on Satellite.
The suit also seek to compel the Bishop to make a similar Alter Call in the Church where all adulterers, fornicators, rouge contractors, corrupt politicians all will be called out to be treated in a similar manner the Bishop trated the young lady.
Oyedepo who failed to appear for hearing was represented by his Lawyer, Agboamwu.
In his response, Agboamwu prayed the Court to give him sufficient time to prepare a cogent defence which the Court ably obliged.
Presiding Judge, Justice Ojo of Court 1, then approved 5 days for the defence Counsel to prepare his response and adjourned the case till June 1st.
The assault on the female Worshipper took place late last year when the Bishop tagged the Young girl 'a witch' during a Church Service, and when asked if she was a witch, the Lady replied on the affirmative and added that she was a 'witch for Christ'. An obviously infuriated Oyedepo slapped her for what in his view was blasphemy.
The act drew world-wide condemnation as observers interpreted it as an abuse of privilege.
