NEW RIVERS STATE LAW: Ex-Gov Peter Odili To Get 2 Houses, 3 Cars For Retirement

Ex-Gov Peter Odili To Get 2 Houses, 3 Cars For Retirement

Nigeria is really in a deep shit. Corruption and impunity is being rewarded by the system while the many Nigerians who live in contentment are being 'mocked' by their kits and kins.

As you read this, a law is underway in Rivers State that will grant huge benefits to former governors and their deputies, in spite of the billions of Naira they made while in office.

Consequently, despite being in hiding from the law by virtue of a controversial court injunction, ex-Governor of the state, Dr. Peter Odili, who the EFCC says “misappropriated billions of naira” while he was governor, is about to be made even richer as soon as the state House of Assembly passes the law.

The proposed legislation is courtesy of a bill currently before the Rivers State House of Assembly. Should the bill be passed, Dr. Odili would be given two houses in any area of his choice in Abuja and Rivers State, three exotic cars that would be replaced every three years and eight policemen for personal security.

Unfortunately for the economy of the state, if the selfish bill is passed, Dr. Odili’s two houses alone, could be enough to pay the salaries of 3,300 Rivers State civil servants for a whole year at the current minimum wage of N19, 400.

Other material benefits include 100 per cent of the basic salary of the incumbent governor, 300 per cent of basic salary as furniture allowance, 20 per cent for utilities and 10 per cent for entertainment
