Police arraign five persons for pre-registered SIM cards

FIVE persons arrested in Makurdi, Benue State capital for selling pre-registered SIM cards have been charged before a Makurdi Chief Magistrate’s Court.
The suspects were alleged to have committed the offence at Wurukum and Makurdi Modern Market . The suspects are Felicia Songu, Samuel Nede, Oko Chinyere, Agbe Francis and Godstime.
According to the prosecution, the accused persons  have confessed to have committed the offence and admitted that  the activated SIM cards were supplied to them by  Francis Egbe and Theophilus now at large.
But when the case came up, the accused persons all pleaded not guilty to the charges and their counsel, A. Acka and A.O Ijeche applied for their bail promising that they would not abscond.
The police prosecution, Michael Iwoh (Sgt) objected to their bail, arguing that some of them were still at large.
But the presiding Magistrate, Dan Ogoh,  in his ruling granted bail to them in the sum of  N50,000 with one surety in the same amount, pointing out that the offence was bailable and adjourned the case to July 10, 2012.
