As part of efforts to check security breach in parts of the country, over 4,000 illegal immigrants were in the last nine months deported from Nigeria by the Federal Government in a bid to check the influx of people of questionable identity into the country.
Also over 16,000 persons were denied entry visas into the country due to improper documentation, assuring that no effort would be spared until the system becomes sanitized.
Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro who discolsed this yesterday while responding to questions from newsen in Makurdi, saidNigeriaand countries likeChadandNigerhave entered into agreements on the issue of movement of persons across the borders. Against this backdrop, he disclosed that all the Immigration Commands have been on alert to ensure security at the borders.
Moro however noted, “Some people erroneously believe that internal security is completely under me; they forget that it was only recently that approval was given for some staff of  Civil Defence to be armed”, he added.
The minister said due to ignorance, some people did not know that he was not in-charge of the Joint Task Force and emphasized that inBenuestate, a faceless group was recently paid to insinuate that he did not sympathize with some of the organizations affected by bomb blasts.
The minister recalled that in several cases, he visited organizations affected by bomb blasts and noted that when the United Nations office inAbujawas bombed, he donated blood to some of the victims.
“Those having sleepless nights because I am a Minister are becoming so worried that I may contest for the senatorial seat in my place in 2015 not knowing that I am not thinking in that direction”.
”My attention is completely focussed on the assignment President Goodluck Janathan has given me at the Ministry of Interior and for anyone to insinuate that I am scheming for 2015 is mischievous and a complete distraction which is unacceptable”, Moro added.
