Jonathan Can’t Stop My Reinstatement next week –Justice Salami

The  National Judicial Council (NJC) is set to issue a letter reinstating President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Ayo Salami on Thursday, June 7.

The letter will be released as soon as the Council agree on the correct interpretation of section 238 (4) and (5) dealing with removal and reinstatement of serving judicial officers from the bench and when Mr. President is expected to play a role.

An impeccable source at the Office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) told Saturday Mirror that the NJC is aware that President Goodluck Jonathan has no constitutional role to play in the reinstatement of Justice Salami since he was only suspended by the Council.

The source added that it was not a big deal for the NJC chairman to write Justice Salami a letter reinstating him but that he is simply being cautious so that some disgruntled politicians would not use the matter to further polarise the Council.

According to the source, "If you have been following this case, you will discover that the matter has been politicised and the executive has penetrated the NJC which is the nucleus of the judiciary, with a mission to destroy it."
