Why Lil Wayne Ordered Nicki Minaj To Skip Summer Jam Performance
Thousands of Nicki Minaj fans were disappointed on Sunday after the rapper did not take the stage at Hot 97′s Summer Jam concert.
Minaj was scheduled to perform, but after one of the radio station’s hosts made a few jokes at Nicki’s expense earlier in the night, Nicki’s boss Lil Wayne yanked her from the lineup.
“Young Money ain’t doing Summer Jam,” the New Orleans rapper tweeted on Sunday night.
Minaj, who had seemed thrilled about performing at the show, added on Twitter:
You n***** just f*cked up history, but the President has spoken … [Hot 97] had a HELL of a f*cking lineup, but we won’t be disrespected,” she wrote.
“I go above and beyond for my fans, but won’t ever go against Wayne’s word; what he says, goes,” Minaj added.
So just what did the radio personality say that made Lil Wayne so upset? He reportedly told the crowd before Minaj came to the stage that she should refrain from performing her single “Starship,” because the song is garbage. And even on Monday morning, he’s sticking to his guns, tweeting:
“Last night I said nothing different than I have ever said … it was not a personal diss … it was ‘Starships’ is sh*t …WHICH WE ALL KNOW IS TRUE.”
