Suicide bomber kills 12 at police headquarter At least 12 persons have been confirmed killed when a suicide bomber struck at the headquarters of the Borno State Police Command in Maiduguri, the state capital.
The attack was carried out early on Friday, reports said.
The suicide bomber was said to have tried forcing his way into the premises of the police headquarters but was prevented from doing so by those on duty.
Since the increase in the activities of suicide bombers, security had been increased in most police formations, with bomb detectors used in screening cars before being allowed in.
That was said to have been the situation at the Borno State Police Command headquarters when the suicide bomber struck, as his car was not allowed into the premises.
The bomb went off at that point, killing at least 12 persons, mainly policemen.
The suicide bomber also did not survive.
At about 6am, also in Maiduguri, a suicide bomber was found dead in Gidan Dambe area of the state capital.
The commander of the Joint Task force, Victor Ebhaleme, said the suspected suicide bomber was killed as he tried planting an Improvised Explosive Device around 6am.
