2015 Presidency: Orubebe move to compromise the media, offers Publishers and Journalists N1m each
Written by: Ocean Wave, New Delhi
In what look like a despirate move to buy the Press, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe
have dished out the sum of N1million to some selected publishers and top journalists chiefly from the South-South geo-political zone of the country, to give publicity stunt to his boss, President Goodluck Jonathan ahead 2015 presidential election. A source who made the revelation known to ocean Wave , further said that the money were allegedly disbursed to the selected media practioners last week in an undisclosed Hotel in Abuja, with a passionate plea from the minister to the media gurus to project the President’s image in good light in the face of the President’s dwindling popularity and growing criticisms amongst Nigerians.

Our source further stated that the funds may not necessarily have come from the President, but Orubebe’s personal effort to ensure that his boss is projected in good light in the media, ahead of the preparation for the contest of 2015, adding that the Media men where constantly reminded of the need to support a fellow south-southerner irrespective of his failures. Our source further averred us that the media executives were allegedly promised various appointive offices should they yearn to Orubebe’s demand. They were later offered cheques of N1milion each which they rejected, and firmly demanded for cash, as they feared the cheques may be dishonoured upon return to their respective stations.

The Minister immediately ordered one of his aides to get cash, which were brought in a matter of minutes, in ghana-must-go bags, our source said. When asked if Orubebe ever mentioned his Delta State gubernatorial ambition in the meeting, our source answered no. “From his body language, he doesn’t look interested in Delta gubernatorial contest of 2015. He is more concerned with helping his Ijaw brother remain in Aso Rock beyond 2015″, our source hinted.
