88 year old Anenih, Ali, Iwuanyanwu Indicate Interest In PDP BoT Chairman

The race for the chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) is getting hotter as Chief Tony Anenih, Senator Ken Nnamani, Dr Ahmadu Ali and Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu were all said to have, last week, collected nomination of interest forms from the BoT secretariat as directed.

There had been speculations in the media last week that the seat may have been zoned to the south east, but with Ahmadu Ali and Chief Tony Anenih collecting their interest forms, it may be that the seat may have be open to all qualified members.
When contacted on phone, the party’s BoT secretary, Senator Jubril Wali, refused to confirm the list of those said to have indicated interest, saying that it would be made public at the appropriate time.
Wali said, “You will be informed at the appropriate time; it is not going to be hidden. There is a process of checking and ascertaining those qualified and eligible to contest. After this, I assure you that you will be duly informed at the appropriate time.”
Since the resignation of former President Olusegun Obasanjo as the BoT chairman, there has been deep seeded interest as to who replaced him with no less than seven persons linked with the chairmanship.
Meanwhile, National Working Committee of the PDP yesterday began inviting its public office holders, starting with the minister of state for defence, Erelu Olusola Obada, to brief it on the activities of her ministry so far in what it said was the party’s continued drive to create synergy between it and its officials in the various arms of government. 
Obada, it was learnt, gave details of operations of her ministry and submitted that the Armed Forces were on top of the security challenges facing the nation. She explained that Defence personnel were working in close concert with other security agencies to tackle threats posed by the Boko Haram sect in the north and oil thieves in the Niger Delta region.
