PDP chief loses 8 family members to auto crash

A Peoples Democratic Party chief in Katsina State, Alhaji Sada Jamoh Funtua, has lost eight family members to auto crash. The victims, four children and three women, were crushed to death by a tanker driver along Kano-Malumfashi road.
 
Daily Trust gathered that the incident occurred at Tashar-Kaji village in Malumfashi local government area on Sunday.
Witness told Daily Trust that the driver of the victims was attempting to dodge a pothole when the tanker ran into them.
 
Alhaji Sada Jamoh, head of the family told Daily Trust on phone yesterday that among the victims were pregnant woman, his aged aunt and four children.
He said the four children, who died in the accident were between the ages of three and four.
He added that his aged aunt, Habiba Tukur survived by four children but lost one of them, Barrister Abdulkadir in the accident.
 
Funtua explained that the deceased were returning from Kano state where they attended a wedding of a family relation.
“When the driver of the tanker crushed his victims seven of them died on the spot while the eighth victim died this morning (yesterday). It is a tragic, shocking and bitter experience,” Funtua said.
 
A witness, Muhammad Isa, also told our reporter on phone that the accident occurred at about 7:30 pm and it involved a Volkswagen Golf wagon with registration number AW 283 KTN and a Mark truck with registration number XA 202 KRM.
Isa added that the two vehicles had a head-on collision resulting to the death of seven passengers in the Volkswagen Golf on the spot and injuring six others. He said that “as Muslims we have accepted the tragedy in good faith; May Allah the Almighty grant them Aljannah Alfirdaus.”
 
He said Barrister Abdulkadir was the driver of the car conveying the family and was among the victims of accident.
“I have not lost a son to the accident rather grand children and an aged Aunty, late Habiba,” he said.
