LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga, USA. —
Lawrenceville police have arrested a department store manager who customers said was peeking over the wall into a women's dressing room.
Police said they arrested 54-year-old David Ronald Williams for invasion of privacy. A police report said Williams removed some ceiling tiles in a women's dressing room at the Kohl's on Collins Hill Road in Lawrenceville.
Police said two women and a 13-year-old girl were trying on clothes in the dressing room.
“The daughter had looked up and noticed someone up in the ceiling that was looking at them. And she told her mom, ‘There's someone up in the ceiling that's looking at me,"' said Lawrenceville police Capt. Greg Vaughn.
When police came, they saw ceiling tiles missing, and questioned a manager fitting the description from the women.
“He was asked was he looking over the ceiling into the fitting room. And of course our suspect said no he was not, that he would never do anything like that,” Vaughn said.
“Creepy" was the main word Channel 2’s Jeff Dore heard from women he spoke to outside the store about the incident.
“People do anything these days. It's ridiculous. I mean, really? That's kind of sad,” said customer Ivary Knight.
“I think that's pretty pathetic, myself. I think it's pretty sad that anyone would have to go that far to be that perverted,” said Darlene Whitson.
Police urge women to be more cautious in dressing rooms and take a good look around.
Channel 2 Action News has learned that Williams no longer works at the store.
