A.P.C Split over State of emergency declaration in Northern Nigeria

APC proposed logo
All Progressives Party (APC) differing stance on the situation looks like  bad news for their supporters.
Despite the fact that technically, the ACN, ANPP and the CPC, no longer exists following the various party conventions, the new party bungled its first real chance at speaking with one voice on a major topical national issue.
The president announced a state of emergency in three states in the North on Tuesday.
And the APC’s reaction so far has been… We accept – no, we do not accept. It depends.
Compare and contrast the statements by the ACN national publicity secretary, Lai Mohammed, and his CPC counterpart, Rotimi Fashakin.
Lai Mohammed:
“We hereby reject the declaration of emergency rule in the three states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, and we call on the National Assembly to also reject it and not allow itself to be used to rubber-stamp a declaration that is largely cosmetic.”
Rotimi Fashakin:
“We need to rally round the President in this trying period. We pray that with this action, peace will eventually return to the states.
“However, it is gratifying that the President did not behave like a former President who removed the political structures when he declared a state of emergency in some states.
“The action of President Jonathan has shown that the choice made by the people through the ballot would not be denied them. May God help our country.”
Also compare these two statements by Bola Tinubu (ACN eminence grise) and Kashim Shettima (ANPP governor of Borno).
