Charge Asari-Dokubo with treason – David-West

•Says Jonathan got only 24% votes from Ijaw

Former petroleum minister, Prof. Tam David-West has called for the arrest and trial of Mujaheed Asari-Dokubo for treason.

The former minister also accused President Goodluck Jonathan of inconsistency in his dealings with issues of insecurity and threats in the country, noting that the same Jonathan threatened former vice president Atiku Abubakar with treason when Atiku declared that those who made peaceful change impossible should prepare for violent change.

Asari-Dokubo recently declared that there would be war and Nigeria would break up if Jonathan was not elected for a second term as president.

This was just as he equally made similar statement last week that Igbo must be president of Nigeria or there would be no peace. His utterances had been condemned by several Nigerians who insisted he lacked moral standard to threaten the peace and unity of the country.

Angered by Dokubo’s utterances on the 2015 elections, David-West said, “no sane and responsible person will make such reckless and irresponsible statement. First, with what he has said about 2015, he has committed treason. And I am surprised that Jonathan is inconsistent. When Atiku said those who make peaceful change impossible should prepare for violence, Jonathan threatened him for treason.

“But here is Asari-Dokubo who clearly said if Jonathan does not win election in 2015, Nigeria will break up, there will be war. That is outright treason. He should be charged for treason.

“Jonathan should get him arrested and charge him for treason. Jonathan is not president for the Ijaw alone. He should not forget that he wouldn’t have become the president with only the votes from Ijaw.

“He got less than 24 percent votes from Ijaw for his election. He is president today because of the massive support from the North so he cannot today be president for Ijaw alone. The contribution of Ijaw to his Presidency was less than 24 percent. So if he wants to be Ijaw president, I am sorry for him,” he stated.

On Dokubo’s character, David-West said: “Let me tell you. I have an article coming up on Dokubo in few weeks. I have a detailed document entitled, “The Dymistification of Asari-Dokubo.” It is going to come up in the next few weeks. Dokubo, I know him very well. Our mothers are from the same father.

He used to be with me. “I used to give him pocket money. Our then grandmother has different tradition in Kalabari marriage culture. Somebody that once called a nationalist like Chief Obafemi Awolowo a criminal cannot be a sane person.

He called Chief Awolowo a criminal. He also went to beg Gani Adams. Anybody that called Chief Awolowo a criminal cannot be a sane person. If a person like Dokubo has become Jonathan’s foot soldier, then I am sorry for him. “He also said General Muhammadu Buhari was not fit to rule.

I can tell you that Dokubo does not know the meaning of to rule. Asari Dokubo has dropped out of the university two times. He dropped out in the University of Port Harcourt and University of Calabar.

“Asari Dokubo cannot dictate whether Jonathan should be President. So he cannot dictate whether should be Presidnet. Jonathan should know that Niger Delta Volunteer Force does not exist again. Jothan should be mindful of Asari Dokubo. He said he loved Osama bin Laden so much that he named his son after bin Laden.
