ATIKU'S SONS WEDDING TURNS INTO 2015 POLITICS AS OPPOSING GOVERNORS CLASH

The wedding in Bauchi of Mohammed Atiku Abubakar, son of Nigeria’s former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Malama Badariya, daughter of former Bauchi state Governor, Ahmed Adamu Muazu, took place on Saturday.
Even though both Atiku Abubakar and Ahmed Adamu Muazu are politicians, the most significant and relevant political scene of the day did not involve either of them.
Instead it revolved around two governors - Sule Lamido of Jigawa and Isa Yuguda of Bauchi.
While Lamido stood as representative of the groom, Yuguda was the representative of the bribe, in accordance with Islamic rites. The significance of the exercise was in the fact that in the ongoing political manoeuvring involving the Nigeria Governors' Forum as well as the PDP, Lamido and Yuguda stand on opposite aisles.
Whereas Lamido is believed to be one of the staunchest backers of Rotimi Amaechi, the winner of the NGF elections (pictures of the two as presidential and vice presidential candidates are posted in various state capitals on a daily basis now); Yuguda is an ally of Aso Rock and backs the Aso Rock candidate, Jonah Jang.
The other sub plot is the fact that Atiku Abubakar who has made no pretensions about his desire to run for office as president again in 2015, might have to go head to head against Sule Lamido, the 'preferred' candidate of Obasanjo in the PDP primaries. But on Saturday, they were best of friends, as seen by the fact that Lamido represented Abubakar's son.
As an aside, the groom, Mohammed paid the sum of one million Naira, as well as a brand new luxury car as bride price for his wife.
The wedding fathia was held in the exclusive reception hall of the Emir of Bauchi’s Palace.
