Engr Rotimi Fashakin( C.P.C) Spokesperson
The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) is alleging that there is a conspiracy between Aso Rock and Ayo Oritsejafor, the president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). Their aim, according to a statement from the party, is simply to discredit Maj.-General Muhammadu Buhari, the leader of the party.
Rotimi Fashakin, the national publicity secretary of the CPC, who released the statement, said that the recent call made by Oritsejafor for Buhari to be arrested was simply a rehash of a position which the special adviser to the presiden on media and publicity, Reuben Abati, had earlier canvassed.
He lamented the deliberate attempt people are making to paint the former head of state in bad light before other Nigerians with the aim of making him unelectable in 2015.
“We are aware that this is a rehash of the stance of Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor to a previous piece of mendacious writing by Dr Reuben Abati in his column in a national daily, wherein he alluded to Buhari as being responsible for post-election violence in some parts of the North in April 2011.
“Pastor Oritsejafor had used the platform of CAN to seek the arrest of Buhari based on fiction and orchestrated literary violence by the PDP-led federal government.
“The subsequent appointment of Dr. Abati as the special adviser to President Jonathan on media and publicity revealed the fitting reward for that hatchet job," he said.
