Immigration Raids On Shops in To Arrest Illegal Immigrants
Immigration-Tory Government Is Damaging Britain’s Long Earned Reputation-The United Kingdom is being accused of racial discrimination after it had adopted a high handedness approach in cracking down illegal immigrants. The move has prompted a major protest from cross Political Parties, Religious groups and human Right advocates who are accusing the government of damaging Britains long earned human rights reputation and selling the nation outto the World as hypocrites.
In recent weeks, there have been spontaneous   pounce on people who are assumed by the United Kingdom Border Agencies(UKBA) as not being completely White in colour, with the agency arresting people on public transport, carrying out searches on train stations, Bus Terminal and bus stops.
There have been reports of Border Agency and the Police carrying out door to door searches in many parts of London in a desperate move to fish out illegal immigrants.
Only last week, a Nigerian family had its privacy invaded when a combined team of immigration officials and police pounced on the family members’ home in Upper Clapton, in East London requesting for identification of those who were home at the time of the immigration visits.
The sort of desperate search for illegal immigrants has engendered a hard knock of the government who have been accused of racial discrimination  and unfair treatment of the minority communities in the United Kingdom
With so many spontaneous spot checks on people with illegal immigration status being carried out at London train and tube stations by UK Border Agency staff, witnesses claim the checks appear to be only targeting members of ethnic minority communities.
“Immigration is a hot button issue in Britain, where Cameron is trying to stop an exodus of voters from his ruling Conservatives to a populist anti-immigration party before a parliamentary election in two years’ time”, reported Reuters News Agency.
A new tactic of advertisement  campaign has been put in place designed to get illegal immigrants to leave Britain. The  campaign saw two vans being driven around six London boroughs displaying billboards telling illegal immigrants to “Go Home or Face Arrest”.
The campaign was urging people to contact the authorities “for free advice, and help with travel documents, with the posters carrying a big picture of a pair of handcuffs and reported how many illegal immigrants had been arrested in the past weeks.
Prime Minister David Cameron’s spokesman said the tactics  was working but his coalition partner said the idea was very offensive
A Sky news  reporter,  James Banks said in reports that not just those who have been stopped are incensed by  government tactics and that the system is completely out of order, witnesses to the shabby human treatment are arguing that the checks are being prompted by race and  not intelligence moves
Phil O’Shea, who witnessed one of the operations earlier this week in north London, told the Kilburn Times: “I thought the behaviour of the immigration officers was heavy-handed and frightening.
“They appeared to be stopping and questioning every non-white person, many of whom were clearly ordinary Kensal Green residents going to work.
“When I queried what was going on I was threatened with arrest for obstruction and was told to ‘crack on’.”
Another onlooker told Sky News: “I think that when we are targeted like this – whatever you look like – I think it is absolutely terrible, and I think you are basing that on prejudice.”
Immigration enforcement officers have also arrested 139 suspected immigrationoffenders in a series of intelligence-led raids at locations including London, Durham, Manchester, Wales and Somerset – and details of the raids posted online by the Home Office.
In recent times, the British government has embarked on moves to persuade illegal immigrants to leave the United Kingdom.
The move is the latest attempt by the Government to crack down on those illegally in the country, following a controversial “go home or face arrest” advertising vancampaign.
Immigration Minister Mark Harper said: “We are sending a clear message to employers who choose to use illegal labour – we will find you and you will pay a heavy penalty.
“We will not allow the growth of a shadow economy for illegal migrants.”
But concerns have been raised about recent anti-immigration operations in London, and Barry Gardiner, the Labour MP for Brent North, has written to Home Secretary Theresa May demanding an investigation into the spot checks which he said violated “fundamental freedoms” and international laws on Human Rights.
David-Cameron-007“We do not yet live in a society where the police or anyother officers of the law are entitled to detain people without reasonable justification and demand their papers,” Mr Gardiner wrote.
“The actions of your department would however appear to be hastening us in that direction.”
Shadow immigration minister Chris Bryant said: “Intelligence-led operations to remove illegal immigrants are to be welcomed. Racial profiling is not.”
Newly-appointed labour peer Doreen Lawrence has pledged to speak out over the stop-and-check operations in her new role.
Asked about the claims of focus on non-whites, the mother of murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence said: “I’m sure there’s illegal immigrants from all countries, but why would you focus that on people of colour? – and I think racial profiling is coming into it.”
