RIGHT MAN FINDS HIMSELF IN THE WRONG PARTY APC AT THE WRONG TIME !
In the face of the transparent governorship primary elections in Anambra State, in other political parties, the state was thrown into mourning on August 21, 2013 when it was announced that Senator Chris Ngige has been presented as consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the November 16 election.
This was mainly so because no primaries have been held to select the candidate of the party,

This is moreso since, on August 22, almost all the newspapers that circulated in Anambra state that day had a picture of Chief Bisi Akande, interim national chairman of APC and Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State raising Ngige’s hand as the party’s candidate.
As expected, some aggrieved and disappointed party members had troop out to demonstrate in some parts of Anambra State, as they condemn the APC for not allowing primary election to take place, before pronouncing Ngige as the candidate.
Some of their placards read: “APC is not democratic; APC, you have shot yourself on the legs; Ngige is not our choice; APC give us primary election; We will swim or sink with Godwin Ezeemo’ Please save Anambra now; Ngige, don’t enter house through the window; Abuja can’t choose for us; Ngige come home and face us in the primary; We don’t want sponsored governor in Anambra State again and Godwin Ezeemo talk now,”
When Godwin Ezeemo released a statement demanding a primary election, the aggrieved people felt that something will be done. And it’s more gratifying that the APC has decided to hold primary election on Monday, September 2.
My advice is: Ngige should come back to Anambra State to test his popularity with the people, in a free and fair election. Ngige must think less of these greedy sponsors, as Anambra can’t progress with that. Ngige must understand that Anambra governorship is not a do or die affair. To all politicians, do not mortgage Anambra to these heartless moneybags again.
Anambra people must reject all form of godfatherism. We must learn from what happened in 2003.

Obi had a nasty habit of drowning us with Internet propaganda but that is better than hacking his opponents to death like some other politicians.
Isn't saying the Rosary preferabe to going naked in front of Alusi Okija? The point really is that we have not had perfect politicians but anybody who says that Ngige was not an above average Governor or that Peter Obi has not been an above average Governor by Nigerian standards is being less than sincere. Interestingly, without Ngige, there would have been no Peter Obi. Had Ngige played ball with Obasanjo, Peter Obi would never have smelt the Government house. How easily we forget. Whatever anyone deems to be the successes of Peter Obi, Ngige deserves half the credit.
So instead of mud slinging, let's have positive campaigning. Let's see who is better at spotting issues. For me personally, Ngige did nothing about Boko Haram while in the Senate - not even a site visit, not even a Press Conference. I stand to be corrected. In the biggest existential threat facing NdeIgbo, Senator Ngige did nothing. I stand to be corrected with facts and figures. Biko. If he was an above average Governor, he was a below average Senator. I really would like Isama and co to defend his record as a so-called Igbo leader given his poor advocacy skills for NdeIgbo in the Senate.
On the other hand, Peter Obi is losing our state to kidnappers. Ngige was better at security than Peter Obi ever was. In fact, the key issue facing Anambra State right now is who will take back our towns and villages from kidnappers. By Nigerian standards, Peter did very well as a Governor but just could not crack the security issue. Ngige can redeem his poor performance in the Senate by telling us how he intends to deal with security issues in Anambra State.
Peter Obi is not campaigning for another term and it is poor politics to keep talking about what he did or did not do. The Ngige camp should do serious opposition research and find cracks in Willie Obiano's armor and use it. One of those cracks is that Willie Obiano is using certain members of ASA USA hold out executive to openly campaign for him. That alone calls his ethics into question and should cause us to reflect on his moral and ethical standards. He obviously has no appreciation or respect for why ASA-USA was formed. Small deals like that can cover huge lapses in moral character. The jury is out on that. But that is the kind of opposition research we want from the Ngige team rather than the hack job about Peter did this, Peter did that. Peter is on his way out, and Ngige can get serious about what he will do differently.
Ultimately, this election may boil down to PDP vs APC. In fact, it is a first testing ground of political muscles between the two big parties. If APGA wins, it will be a win for PDP. Although Ngige has the name recognition and the superior ground work judging from what I saw in our State last week, it really may not be enough in a must win election for Jonathan where we know that the Presidency has a strong interest on who emerges the Governor of Anambra State. I suspect that Attiru Jega may have the aces depending on whether he is proJonathan or antiJonathan. If he is proJonathan, he will look the other way as the Presidency deploys every rigging machinery to make his man win. If he is antiJonathan, he will strictly enforce the rules knowing that the person who would appear to have the majority vote if the votes are cast and counted well would be Ngige.
While we pray for the emergence of a grace-filled leader who will serve our people well, let us entertain ourselves by not hacking our way through this thing. In a civilized society, the Candidates would have been scheduled to have not less than five face to face debates so that we can see who does or does not have a grasp of the issues. This thing is not rocket science if we really mean to do it well. I am bored.
Respectfully,
Aniedobe
