Dora Akunyili Says She is not currently Sick .

The attention of immediate past Minister of Information and Communications, Professor Dora Akunyili, has been drawn to a report in today’s edition of Saturday Independent newspaper claiming that she is hospitalized in the U.S. and that there is anxiety over the state of her health.
This story is false, misleading and raises unnecessary anxiety about Prof. Akunyili’s sate of health. The reporter claims that Prof. Akunyili is hospitalised in the U.S. without providing any proof. He went ahead to publish that the celebrated former Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is hospitalised despite information to the contrary given to him by Prof. Akunyili’s husband, Dr. Chike Akunyili.
For the record, Prof. Akunyili is not hospitalised and there is no anxiety whatsoever over her state of health. It is true that she was sick last year but she is well now. She is currently visiting her children in the U.S. and is living an active life.
Contrary to the claim by the reporter that she has not appeared in public for long, Prof. Akunyili attended last Saturday’s Reception for Anambra Governor-elect, Chief Willie Obiano, organised by USAfrica in collaboration with Anambra Communities in the Diaspora at Hilton Westchase Towers, Hilton, Texas, USA. Prof. Akunyili’s presence at the Reception was well reported, especially online.
The story on Prof. Akunyili’s alleged sickness, therefore, lacks substance. It should be disregarded by the public.

Dora Akunyili’s Health Worsens, Hospitalized In The US

Report has it that a former Minister of Information, Professor Dora Akunyili is currently hospitalized in the United States.

According to Saturday Independent, the former NAFDAC boss is currently ill and has been receiving medical attention on the shores of America.

It would be recalled that Akunyili’s last public appearance was when she accompanied Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, to vote in their hometown, Agulu, during the November 16 governorship election in the state, late last year.

Although rumours of her failing health broke out before the election, her condition reportedly grew worse lately, which led to her being flown out of the country.

According to insiders, before she was flown to the United States, “she has lost so much weight.”

However, details of her illness could not be ascertained as at press time on Friday.

When the paper contacted her husband, Chike Akunyili, he said his wife suffered minor health challenges but that is now okay.

“Yes, she suffered some minor health challenges but she is now okay. She is in the United States. I spoke with her today. What happened was that our son said she should come over and rest. You know all our children are abroad.

She will soon return to the country and we will show up in a public gathering. There is a couple that wants us to sponsor their wedding. Both of us will appear in public. She is now okay,” Dr. Akunyili said.
