Watch the story below:
You know that theory that the NRA pushes? No, not that we should arm children — the other one! The myth that keeping a gun handy will protect one’s self was dispelled when 62-year-old Frank Petro, a Pennsylvania gun shop owner was Second Amendmented to death with his own gun by 42-year old Jack Edmondson on New Year’s Eve — with his own gun, according to police.
Petro is far from an innocent victim, as the shooting occurred as a result of Edmondson’s attempts to extort more than $120,000 from the shop owner over illegal lottery winnings in the time period between October and the night on which Petro’s life was ended.
Police say that on the night in question, as with two prior visits, Edmondson was posing as a police officer. He told Petro and his son that if they gave him the winnings, they would not be charged. The pair complied — twice, forking over between $44,000 to $47,000 on one occasion and $87,000 on another.
It seems that Petro was not willing to hand over any more of his illicit money this time. According to CBS Pittsburgh, Petro’s brother discovered Edmondson was a fraud and had retained a lawyer to recover the lost money. Investigators say that Petro was murdered to keep the extortion scam from reaching police.
