ASSASSINS ARE AFTER ME —OMISORE

KILLERS AFTER ME —OMISORE
A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Mr. Iyiola Omisore, on Thursday alleged that some people were threatening to kill him. He called on the police to ensure that nothing untoward happened to him.
He said this in a statement issued on his behalf by his media aide, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, in Osogbo.
The PDP governorship aspirant alleged that Governor Rauf Aregbesola and leaders of his party, the All Progressives Congress, had kept mentioning bloodshed saying security agents should caution them.
He said, “Otunba Iyiola Omisore has been receiving threat messages and this is a dangerous sign. We don’t want what happened to Funsho Williams in Lagos State when he was about to be nominated to happen to him.
“We are calling on the police and the Federal Government to ensure that Omisore is secure. Security agencies should monitor Mr. Rauf Aregbesola and caution him because he has been mentioning bloodshed since.
“The police in the state should be at alert, more men should be deployed to monitor the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise.
“We are urging our people to remain calm and only fight with their votes.”
The aspirant also called for the removal of Ambassador Rufus Akeju as the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state.
But the Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy of the APC, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, in his response to the allegation, said the PDP was known for violence and assassination.
He stated that the PDP did not just start blood-shedding, saying hoodlums working for the PDP allegedly killed many innocent people in the state in their efforts “to sit permanently on the mandate stolen from Aregbesola in 2007.”
Oyatomi said, “ The PDP has been shedding blood. Violence is their trade mark. The records of their bloodletting activities are there for everyone to see.
“The purported threat to Omisore’s life; this is what they intend to do and they are rushing to the press to lay it on the doorsteps of the ruling party.”
The APC had earlier said in a statement that the violence being perpetrated by the PDP had resulted in the killing of one of its ( PDP) members.
The APC spokesperson said that PDP member was killed following a clash at Gbodo area of Ile Ife. Omisore is from Ile Ife.
