Let’s Unite Against Terror, S’South Group Begs Yoruba, Igbo

Let’s Unite Against Terror, S’South Group Begs Yoruba, Igbo

Ahead of the 2015 general election, a political think-tank, South-South Peoples Initiative met on Saturday in Abuja to “assist President Goodluck Jonathan in his second term bid.”

The organization therefore called on the Yoruba and Igbo ethnic nationalities to “unite and wipe out all traces of Boko Haram Islamic sect in Southern Nigeria.”

According to SSPI, it has been obvious that the activities of the sect in recent times are against the occupation of the Presidency by a Southerner.

The Chairman, Board of Trustees of SSPI, Mr. Kingsley Amadi, made the plea in an interview with THE PUNCH after his inauguration.

He said, “The infiltration of Boko Haram into the South is a very ugly situation and it is so sad that now that the people of South-South are in leadership to emancipate the people of Nigeria, the hoodlums have gathered together to destabilize Nigeria. But the fight against insurgency is not for government alone. Everybody must join hand to fight it.

“We are also not missing the fact that the organization would assist the President in his second term bid because the first time he came, God brought him to power and he has not finished his one term and there is need to make him complete his good achievements.”

Amadi said SSPI will “encourage the President to contest by advising him because when you see somebody doing good you encourage him for the second time.”

“With our numerical strength in the FCT, we now felt the need to have an umbrella body like this to come together and foster love, peace and unity and also to encourage our people to study because education is key to success. We also want to use it to empower our people because there is a saying that one without a guide finds it difficult to go far”, the group stressed.

Punch.
