Police in Lagos have arrest a man suspected to be a member of terrorist group, Boko Haram.

Suspected Boko Haram bomber arrested in LagosA suspected Boko Haram bomber was yesterday arrested while trying to detonate what was perceived as an explosive at the Centrex Unit of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) in the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
Sources said the suspect was able to gain access into the NAMA facility because he was physically challenged (disabled). He was however, apprehended by security officials of the airspace agency who had witnessed his unusual movement as he was trying to press an object which they suspected could be an explosive. The airport police command was promptly alerted and the suspect handed over to the police, who took him to Beesam Police Station, Airport Command, where he was interrogated.
Supo Atobatela, spokesman for NAMA, said:
“The basic truth, however, is that the said suspect was on the ground making phone calls along the Airport Road close to CENTREX, an annex office of NAMA, when the agency’s security personnel accosted him.
His incoherent explanation exposed him to the security personnel who later found on him some devices suspected to be explosives. He was subsequently handed over to the Airport Police Command for further investigation.
He was caught because when he tried to set off the explosives, there was a hitch. He (then) ran back to an obscure place (at the airport) to check it out, and fix it.
His suspicious movement and the frustration evident on his face aroused the suspicion of security operatives attached to National Airport Management Authority.”
Although he is now in police custody, and his name is being withheld, the suspect has reportedly revealed a widespread Boko Haram plot that has targeted at least a half dozen sites across the city.
In a story reported by both THISDAY and the Punch newspaper on Monday, the 22-year old disabled man admitted in a police confession to being part of the Boko Haram plot to destroy key sites at the international airport. He was apprehended Monday with canisters secured around his body and neck, that police say were explosives he was about to detonate.
It is unclear if the man now in police custody is telling his tale of failed bravado to mislead police and intelligence agents, yet all leads are being tracked down, security and police officials acknowledge.
