Ex-Niger Delta war lord, Asari Dokubo converted from Christianity to Islam in the days of his militancy in the Niger Delta.
One of the reasons He gave back then according to him was that he sees Islam as a religion that fights injustice and since they are fighting injustice in the Niger Delta, he felt obliged to embrace the religion.
However, former Minister of Petroleum, Professor Tam David-West has said that Asari Dokubo did not convert to Islam because he loves the religion of Prophet Muhammed, but becuase he wanted to have the opportunity of joining terrorists in Libya to train.
