An Ikeja High Court has issued a bench warrant against a serial fraudster, Ishola Salawudeen, who is accused of defrauding 120 prospective tenants of about N28 million.
Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye issued the warrant against the 43-year-old estate agent for refusing to appear before the court to take his plea.
She noted that Salawudeen’s alleged accomplice, Babatunde Habeeb, was in court, adding that the prosecution must do everything possible to produce him.
The judge, therefore, ordered the police to arrest and produce Salawudeen before the court on January 15, 2015 for his arraignment.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the defendants were charged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The EFCC counsel, Mr Ben Ubi, alleged that they obtained various sums of money from several accommodation seekers.
Ubi said the defendants committed the offences between May and December 2013 in Lagos
