After much speculation, the Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday elected Governor Rochas Okorocha’s son-inlaw, Chief Uche Nwosu as its governorship candidate for the 2015 election.
Nwosu was ratified as the party’s candidate in a congress that took place early Tuesday morning at the International Conference Centre, Owerri.
The governorship candidate is the state commissioner for Lands and Urban Development. It is believed in many quarters that Nwosu’s candidature was meant for him to hold brief for Governor Okorocha who is seriously vying to secure the party’s presidential ticket.
It is also learnt that if Nwosu was chosen because he is the only person that would not disappoint Okorocha but hand him over the governorship ticket in any case he loses the APC presidential primaries.
Speaking with journalists in Owerri, the state chairman of the party, Dr. Hilary Eke said the party decided to give its ticket to whoever it thinks that could win elections.
