Popular Houston-based Don & Nkem Okoro Killed in Nigeria!

The killing of two hardworking Nigerian couple, Don and Nkem Okoro, both based in Katy, near Houston, Texas, has thrown thousands of Nigerians in Houston and beyond into mourning and grief. It is one sad news of shock, anger and disbelief to thousands of families and friends who know popular Don and Nkem.

A family member in Mbano, Imo State, Nigeria told NigerianFM. Radio (NFR) that Don and his beautiful wife Nkem came to Nigeria for a burial ceremony and Christmas holidays. Tragedy struck on Saturday; the 13th of December, 2014 when easy-going Don, a businessman from Mbano and his amiable wife, Nkem a nurse, were shot dead around Asaba, in Delta State, Nigeria.

When this writer spoke with the Delta Police Command, PRO, CELESTINA AMADI KALU, she told me about another incident that happened in Agbor, Delta State. According to her, two Nigerian -American Citizens were shot dead inside their father’s clinic on Saturday, by Armed robbers. Both victims were from Agbor in Delta State.

Lamenting on this sad news, Cajetan Anywawu, a close friend of Don based in Lagos, Nigeria told NFR that security situation in Nigeria has gotten out of hand. He went further to say, Nigerians living overseas who may come home for the Christmas holidays are major targets for Armed Robbers.

Armed robbers, kidnappers operate with wanton destruction during this period. Travelers to Nigerians at this time of the year should be very security conscious.
