Egbe Omo Oduduwa’s petition is being filed in answer to a Petition earlier on filed through the same change.org website calling for an investigation of a Dallas-based cardiologist, Dr. Adeniran Abraham Ariyo who was said to have called for xenophobic attack against Igbos the way foreigners were violently attacked in South Africa. That petition has been signed by 5,248.
Below is Egbe Omo Oduduwa’s statement on change.org site:
“We, members of Egbe Omo Oduduwa, in Nigeria and the Diaspora want a Public Hearing on the allegations of “xenophobia” and “hate speech” leveled against Dr. Ademola Ariyo, a Cardiologist at the Dallas Regional Medical Center, Texas. The allegations are frivolous and an attempt at blackmailing the man for expressing his opinion and views on issues currently happening in Nigeria. A formal Public Hearing will place these issues in perspective, within the context of US Laws as well as the political and cultural undercurrents in Nigeria thus allowing for fair dispensation of Justice. This Public Hearing will prevent anyone from being unduly harassed and punished. We also want to ensure that the Medical Board is not stampeded into taking any action without fair hearing. His accusers are already alleging that he might have murdered his Igbo patients. This and other types of fabrications are the hall mark of his accusers which the Public Hearing will be able to address. His accusers thrive on fabrications and then play the victim when their fabrications are exposed.”
