Buhari Endorses Fashola , Tinubu says NO !

it seems like the war has just begun in the All Progressives Congress. At least that’s what some papers are reporting.

According to the Nigerian Pilot Saturday, the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari and the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu are set to clash over Buhari’s insistence on having Governor Babatunde Fashola as the Lagos State ministerial nominee in his cabinet.

Close associates of Buhari are in support of the former Lagos State Governor due to his sterling performance in Lagos State over the past 8 years. Unfortunately, according to the report, Tinubu is said to be planning on having the final word on who makes the ministerial list for the entire South West, South East and South South zones.

With the final decision falling on the President elect, fireworks are expected.

A source revealed to the paper; “since Buhari will be answerable to Nigerians on the performance of his ministers, the final decision of who will be in the incoming Federal Executive Council, is his to make. If the General insists on having Governor Fashola in his cabinet, Tinubu just has to learn to live with it as there is nothing he can do about it.”

According to the source, Buhari is said to be full of confidence in Fashola as he always delivers on his mandate and is also one of the few governors without corruption allegations on his neck.

Tinubu is said to be pivotal in the choice of ministers as APC did not produce any governor in majority of the South East and some South South states and as the national leader of the party, the party leaders in all those states will need to consult him on the ministerial nominees.

However, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State is expected to pick a nominee from his state, while his Imo State counterpart, Owelle Rochas Okorocha will pick the Imo ministerial nominee if he emerges victorious in the supplementary election in his state.

In a seperate development, recently elected APC governors in the South West are said to be out for blood with Tinubu over ministerial, ambassadorial and board appointment nominees.

The governors are alleged to be planning to frustrate any attempt by the APC leader to impose ministerial nominees on them.

Well, the paper did not directly quote any source, and to the best of our knowledge the APC is still trying to figure out its transition committee and zoning of legislative positions and has not even gone as far as contemplating ministerial nominees. So make of this story what you want.
