POOR QUALITY OF CARE

Ariyo, Adeniran A., M.D., Lic. No. L4224, Dallas
On May 2, 2014, the Board and Adeniran A. Ariyo, M.D., entered into a Mediated Agreed Order requiring Dr. Ariyo to within one year complete at least 16 hours of CME, divided as follows: eight hours in defibrillator indications/surgical technique/troubleshooting complications and eight hours in medical recordkeeping; and pay an administrative penalty of $2,000 within 60 days. The Board found Dr. Ariyo failed to appropriately interpret the signs indicating the misplacement of the lead following a pacemaker placement procedure. This order resolves a formal complaint filed at the State Office of Administrative Hearings.

Doctor Ariyo, Adeniran A., M.D., Lic. No. L4224, may face further  charges if the Texas Medical Board rules on further disciplinary actions against him. Dr. Ariyo made genocidal statements directed at the Igbo Ethnic Group of Nigeria when he wrote on his Facebook Page that the Igbos should faceattacks in Lagos and Abuja in line with the Xenophobic attacks against African immigrants in South Africa.
His statements generated uproar among the Igbos and other Nigerian Ethnic groups condemning Dr. Ariyo’s statement. Facebook has since taken his page down among hundreds of thousands of complaints they received. Once his vituperation were published by Eagle Eye Reports and other Media Outlets  hundreds of thousands of calls and complaints were placed by Nigerians mostly Igbos from across the United States and other parts of the world in protest to Dr. Ariyo’s Statement. It should be recalled that between 1966 and 1970 the Igbos faced genocidal attacks in Nigeria which led to the deaths of  over 1 million Igbos across Nigeria.
The Igbo Community in Texas has filled formal complaints against Dr. Ariyo with the Texas Medical Board in what is seen as a test case over genocidal insinuations often directed at the Igbo which historically have been ignored. Often folks take the cherished U.S. Freedom of Speech clause for granted; many fail to realize that while the United States cherishes this freedom nonetheless there are restrictions on such freedom as amended on the U.S. Constitution. The U.S. Constitution has limitations on the first amendment including such acts as incitement, false statements of fact, obscenity, child pornography, threats, and speech owned by others.
