Blatter Steps Down As Fifa President As FBI Close in.

Sepp Blatter has announced he will resign as Fifa president.
The Swiss administrator said in an improptu press conference on Tuesday: “An extraordinary congress is to be called to elect my successor as soon as possible.”
He added: “I have thoroughly considered my presidency and thought about my presidency and the last 40 years in my life.
“These years were closely related to Fifa and this wonderful sport of football, I appreciate and love Fifa more than anything else and only want to do the best for football and Fifa and our institution.”
Blatter recently won a fifth term as head of world football’s governing body. The 79-year-old defeated Prince Ali Bin al-Hussein Last week’s election in Zurich, after the latter Fifa vice-president for Asia threw in the towel in a run-off election.
Blatter has been at the helm of FIFA since 1998, when he succeeded Jo Havellange.
Fifa’s next extra-ordinary congress is scheduled for sometimes between December and March 2016.
