Former Imo State governor, Ikedi Ohakim, Arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Former Imo State governor, Ihedi Ohakim, was on Thursday arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Ohakim, who was scheduled to visit the EFCC office in Abuja on Wednesday, had shunned the invitation, prompting the commission to pick him up to clarify and answer questions on an ongoing investigation into allegations of corruption and embezzlement by his government.

The EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed that Ohakim is in their custody.
“Ohakim was picked up by operatives of the commission at 8 a.m. from his Abuja residence.’’
He said the operatives had gone after the former governor following his failure to honour an invitation by the commission.
“I cannot say precisely the amount involved in the allegation brought against Ohakim but he was picked up this morning from his Abuja residence”, he said.
