Chief of Army Staff renames military operation against Boko Haram from “Operation Zaman Lafiya” to ”Lafiya Dole”.
Nigeria’s new Chief of Army Staff, Major General T.Y. Buratai
was in Borno State on Sunday where he said that the army must awake
and be alive to its traditional responsibility of defending the integrity
of the nation in the face of the ongoing insurgency.
Buratai who was in Konduga local government area of Borno state
addressed a military formation there and renamed the ongoing
operation against the terrorists from “Operation Zaman Lafiya” to ”Lafiya Dole”.
He said the renaming was informed by the refusal of the militants to
take the opportunity for peace, hence “enough is enough.”
Buratai said that he will give them the needed support while they
also have to ensure that peace returns to the North East no matter
the plan of Boko Haram.
