Several shots rang out during the interview as the two women screamed and ducked.

The New York Daily News has generated controversy on social media over its choice of photos for its Thursday front page (see it above).
The tabloid chose to use screengrabs from the video taken by shooter Vester Lee Flanagan as heopened fire on a reporter, cameraman and a member of the local chamber of commerce in Virginia on Wednesday. Flanagan killed the 24-year-old reporter, Alison Parker, and her photographer, 27-year-old Adam Ward. They both worked for WDBJ7 in Roanoke, Virginia. The woman who was being interviewed on live television survived the shooting.
Flanagan was a disgruntled former employee who was fired from the same station in 2013 and alleged racial discrimination on his way out. He posted the video of the shooting to social media. He shot himself following a confrontation with state police and later died.
