Tribunal BANS Journalists from covering Femi Gbajabiamila proceedings

Lagos-Nigeria: Heavily armed policemen, on Wednesday, barred journalists from entering the election petition tribunal sitting in Roseline Omotoso Court House, Ikeja, LagosThe tribunal is sitting to determine the propriety of the election of the majority leader of the House of Representatives, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).At the resumed hearing of the matter on Wednesday, a police patrol vehicle, was used to cordon off the area.The police van with registration number RRS 161 LA, was parked at the T junction, opposite Ikeja Police College.Policemen at the gate ordered journalists to go back, saying they were acting on an order from above that nobody should be allowed to gain entry into the court premises.Corroborating the position of policemen attached to the court, Lanre Ogunlowo, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, who led a team of armed policemen to the tribunal, ordered journalists to stay away from the entrance of the tribunal“Our CP came here yesterday and instructed us not to allow anybody, including journalists, from entering here,” he said.
