Buhari Exonerates Obasanjo, IBB, And Abacha From Anti-Corruption Probe

According to a press statement by the presidentcy, President Muhammadu Buhari will only be probing the immediate past administration and will not probe past administrations of Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida, Sani Abacha and others.

A press statement by the Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina has revealed that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari will only be probing the government of former Nigerian leader, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. This action exonerates the past administrations of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida, Late Sani Abacha and others.
In his words: "If you recall, that was already settled before he got inaugurated as president. He has said he will not waste time digging into the far past. The far past will includes Obasanjo and others. But the president has said he will not waste time to go that far.”It should be recalled that several reactions have trailed the ongoing probe by the Buhari administration which has been termed as a victimization tool by the opposition party, PDP.

That they are not being probed does not exonerate then. It means just that, they are not being probed. Exoneration would connote forgiveness or absorption from blame. He is concerned with the immediate past.
