Sunday Oliseh has revealed the main reason why he stripped Vincent Enyeama from his captaincy of the Super Eagles.
The coach and the former Super Eagles skipper have been at logger heads which led to the goalkeeper quiting the national team.
Speaking just hour after Super Eagles' Thursday, October 8, 0-2 defeat to Congo, Oliseh sat down with Super Eagles media officer Oluwatoyin Ibitoye to clear up the reports about the clash between him and Enyeama.
Oliseh revealed that he had nothing against the goalkeeper who was the first person he spoke to after he was named as the coach of the national team.
In interview with Galaxy Television, Enyeama revealed that Oliseh stood out for him when he had issues concerning his statement about Kaduna as venue for the 2017 African Cup of Nations clash against Chad which Nigerian won 2-0.
Oliseh confirmed it saying: "before I as appointed coach of the Super Eagles, Enyeama was not in good terms with the NFF concerning a statement he made about Kaduna, bit I stood out for him," Oliseh said.
Super Eagles coach narrated how he drove from Belgium to Lille to speak to Enyeama after he was named coach of the Super Eagles.
"I spent a whole day watching him train, took him to lunch and even paid and laid out the whole plans with him," Oliseh said.
Oliseh revealed that during his chat with Enyeama, the goalkeeper mention his intention to retire after the 2017 AFCON.
"I told him I was building a team that can last till at least 2018 and I wanted a captain that is not thinking of retiring," Oliseh said.

Oliseh revealed that he also spoke to the goalkeeper some weeks ago when he also mention his intention to retire, that made him to select Ahmed Musa as his captain.
"I decided to pick Musa as captain because I felt Enyeama was not really into the team," Oliseh said.
Oliseh further stated that Enyeama is notoriously known for having problems with coaches.
"Enyeama also had problems with Berti Vogts who kicked him out of the team," Oliseh said.
"I remember he was supposed to be number one in in the 2008 but was dropped because of his attitude we cannot continue like this," Oliseh conluded.
