(NDLEA) has arrested a 41-year-old Lagos tailor for allegedly smuggling 2.7kg of cocaine valued at N29 million into the country,


The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 41-year-old Lagos tailor for allegedly smuggling  2.7kg of cocaine valued at N29 million into the country, a statement said.
The agency’s spokesman, Mr Mitchell Ofoyeju, said in the statement in Lagos on Thursday that the suspect was arrested on arrival from Brazil at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.
The statement said the substance was hidden in the suspect’s luggage during the screening of passengers on board a Turkish airline.
``The suspect has made a confessional statement claiming ownership of the drug. He claimed he was a tailor on Lagos Island and married with three children.
``He also claimed that the baron promised him N2 million, which he intends to use to import clothes from China,” Ofoyeju said.
He said the suspect would be charged to court after investigations were concluded.
