A man was kicked off a Spirit Airlines plane after verbally abusing an attendant who asked him to pull his saggy pants up. The flight was to take off from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to Orlando, Florida. The man was boarding the plane with a female, when the flight attendant asked him to pull up his pants that were “excessively low”.
A Spirit Airlines spokeswoman said that the man became verbally abusive and threatened physical harm. Apparently his pants were sagged below his buttocks and the airline thought that it was not up to par with their rules that passengers have to wear adequate clothing.
"It was to the point where his entire bottom was hanging out. And that’s not appropriate”, the Spirit Airlines spokeswoman said to CBS.
The man and the woman were kicked off the plane where they were booked on the next Orlando-bound flight available. As far as what is deemed appropriate attire, the Spirit Airlines spokeswoman said that attendants are trained to use their own judgement.
The saggy pant issue is actually one that is more common that one would assume. Billy Joe from the band Green Day was asked to leave a Southwest Airlines flight from Oakland to Burbank, California because his pants were too saggy.
