U.P.P. PARTY CHAIRMAN ......CHEKWAS OKORIE
Acceptance Speech ...Let me express my profound appreciation to the National and State Officers of our great party. Let me also state that I am happy to be the flag bearer of our party and expectedly, the next governor of Anambra State.
Today is not a day of celebration or widespread jubilation, but a historic day of reflection where we are determined to chart the way forward for our party and begin the great campaign for the Anambra State Government House.
Our party leaders, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, it is not yet time for me to make an elaborate speech or begin to unveil my manifesto. I have just been introduced and presented to you, people of Anambra State, other Nigerians and the international community, as flag bearer of our party in the Anambra State governorship election. I therefore request you to pardon and allow me to begin my gubernatorial election campaign at a later day in Awka, our state capital.
Today, permit me to make the solemn promise to adhere strictly with our party rules and regulations and embrace in totality the mnifesto of our great party. Today, I also submit myself as a loyal party man and promise to uphold the tenets and principles of our party.
As the gubernatorial candidate of our party and the man to beat in the November 16, 2013 election, I promise to carry all our people in the state along and ensure even development throughout the state, when, through the Grace of God, we assume office in Awka.
I intend to enter into a social contract with the people of Anambra State and hope to unveil the contract in Awka in a few days' time, God willing.
Meanwhile, permit me to express my profound appreciation to our party leaders and elders and the distinguished personalities that spared their time to witness this historic occasion.
While I thank our party leaders for the opportunity given to me as gubernatorial candidate, I wish you all journey mercies.
Thank you.
