1. FOILED KIDNAP/ARREST OF SUSPECTS (#ANAMBRA STATE): On 13.08.2014 at about 10:30PM, a group of suspected kidnappers who wanted to abduct a community Chief attacked their target as he was about driving into his compound at Umuawulu. Police Special Protection Unit (SPU) at the vicinity engaged the hoodlums in a shootout, two (2) of the suspects (male) were fatally injured in the encounter. One male visitor to the house was hit and injured during the crossfire; two (2) AK 47 rifles with thirty (30) rounds of ammunition were recovered from the deceased suspects. Injured victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment while corpses of hoodlums deposited at the mortuary. Efforts to apprehend other gang members that fled the scene with bullet wounds are been intensified, State CID #Awka is investigating.
2. RECOVERY OF WEAPON/ARREST OF SUSPECT (#BAYELSA STATE): On 15.08.2014 at about 10:30PM, Police patrol team along Arietallin Street, Yenagoa intercepted a man and when searched one (1) locally-made pistol with one (1) live cartridge was recovered from him at the scene. Suspect taken into custody, State CID #Yenagoa is investigating.
3. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (#KOGI STATE): On 15.08.2014 at about 2:00AM, Police received distress call of armed robbery at a camp in Wawuri Adogo. Police patrol teams were immediately dispatched to the scene where one of the hoodlums (male) was arrested, one AK47 rifle with 20 rounds of ammunition recovered from him. Two other gang members fled the scene; none of the victims was hurt. Efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects are been intensified. State CID #Lokoja is investigating.
4. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (#EDO STATE): On 15.08.2014 at 5:44AM Police SARS operatives on patrol along Benin/Lagos expressway intercepted a gang of suspected armed robbers in the act. A shootout ensued; two of the hoodlums were arrested after sustaining gunshot injuries while other gang members fled into the bush with bullet injuries. Two AK47 riffles with 120 rounds of ammunition face masks, marine rope and four mobile phones were recovered from the suspects. Two arrested suspects were rushed to the hospital for treatment but pronounced dead on arrival, corpses deposited at the mortuary for autopsy. Efforts to apprehend other gang members are been intensified, State CID #Benin is investigating.
5. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (#OSUN STATE): On 16.08.2014 Police patrol team intercepted a lone gun-man while trying to snatch a motorcycle from the owner along Olurin Street Ile-Ife. One locally-made pistol was recovered from the suspect who came for the operation from Power Line Ore, #Ondo State. State CID #Osogbo is investigating.
6. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (#KATSINA STATE): On 17.08.2014 at about 2:30AM, Police at Safana Division, Katsina received a distress call of armed robbery at a residential house; Patrol teams were immediately dispatched to the scene where the hoodlums were met in the act. One male suspect was arrested, one loaded Dane gun and charms were recovered from him. Efforts to apprehend other gang members that fled the scene are been intensified. State CID Katsina is investigating.
7. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF OFFENSIVE WEAPON (#RIVERSSTATE): On 17.08.2014 at about 5:35AM, Police received a distress call of armed robbery at a house along East-West Road, Rumuokoro. Police patrol teams were immediately dispatched to the scene where two of the suspects were apprehended in the nearby bush while the other two gang members fled the scene. One machete was recovered from the arrested suspects. Police SARS Port-Harcourt is investigating.
8. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (#DELTA STATE): On 17.08.2014 at about 5:00PM, Police received a distress call of armed robbery at Famous Filling Station, Asaba. Patrol teams were immediately dispatched to the scene where a two-man robbery gang was met in the act, a shootout ensue during which one of the hoodlums was fatally injured and the other suspect arrested after sustaining gunshot injury. One cut-to-size gun with two loaded cartridges as well one unregistered motorcycle was recovered from the suspects at the scene. State CID #Asaba is investigating.
9. CULPABLE HOMICIDE (KOGI STATE): On 16.08.2014 at about 4:30PM, Police received a report that one Ibrahim ‘m’ (Surname Not Yet Known) of Kabba Junction, Lokoja Road administered unknown drugs/substances via injection to a 21yr-old lady (name withheld) said to be his girl friend in an attempt to terminate the pregnancy she is having for him. The lady took ill and was rushed to Specialist Hospital Lokoja where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Corpse deposited at the same hospital mortuary for autopsy. Effort is ongoing to apprehend the stated boyfriend, State CID Lokoja is investigating.
10. FOILED ROBBERY/RECOVERY OF WEAPON (EDO STATE): On 17.08.2014 at about 12:15AM, Police operatives attached to Ikpeba Hill Division on patrol along Denco Street, Benin City sighted a group of youths who immediately abandoned a bag and took to flight. Upon searching the bag, one (1) cut-to-size gun, five live cartridges, razor blade, iron cutter, two mobile phones and a spoon were recovered therein. Efforts to apprehend the suspects are being intensified. State CID Benin City is investigating.
